Sticks and Sticks - (2015 -17)
Sticks and Sticks, is a visual dialogue between Patrick Kennedy and Gene Gort. The work in this collection is
inspired by the geometries of computer code, the materiality of encaustic and wood, and the process of
renovation. The dialogue began with sharing examples and sketches of drawings and interactive imagery
generated from simple computer code in the Processing programming language. Those compositions inspired physical compositions and relief works of encaustic, wood scraps from construction materials and various
pigments. These compositions, in turn, inspired more developed code drawings resulting in archival digital prints
and animations. The collection is a conversation between the actual and the virtual, from two artists whose work
reflects their relationship; their ability to listen, look and respond to each other aesthetically, intellectually and emotionally. |
